UL2272 certified e-scooter with registration mark and identification mark

If you have recently purchased a UL2272 certified e-scooter such as MOBOT L1-1, Ninebot by Segway ES2, congratulations.
As announced by Land Transport Authority on 12 December 2018, registration of electric scooters (e-scooters) will commence from 2 Jan 2019. UL2272 certified e-scooters are allowed on public paths beyond 1 Jan 2021. On the other hand, non UL2272 certified e-scooters can only be used until 31 Dec 2020. Nevertheless, all e-scooters must be registered with LTA.
Before you log in to register online with your SingPass, you have prepared these:

REMEMBER TO TICK THAT YOUR E-SCOOTER IS UL2272 CERTIFIED. If your e-scooter is non-UL2272 certified, the Registration Mark (so-called e-scooter License) is valid until end 2020.
For UL2272 e-scooter, the license is for lifetime, and surely it depends on if your e-scooter lasts that long or not.
Upon successful registration, LTA will assign you a unique identification number. In addition, an LTA registration mark will also be mailed to you. You have 14 calendar days to fabricate the identification mark bearing the identification number.
You need to paste both LTA Identification and Registration Mark onto your e-scooter stem prominently.

How to safeguard your e-scooter’s UL certification mark?

Rightfully, the UL2272 certification mark should remain on the e-scooter. But some of our customers have concerns. They are afraid their UL2272 certification marks may be stolen when their e-scooters are left unattended.
Though it is an offence to falsely declare a non UL2272 certified e-scooter as certified, this may be a valid concern.
“If there are false declarations, the registration of the e-scooter could be cancelled and the registration fee forfeited. Offenders can be fined up to S$5,000 and/or face imprisonment up to 12 months.”
You can consider to unpeel the UL2272 certification mark, pasted it onto your receipt or warranty card, and keep it in a safe place. Please take note that the UL2272 certification mark bears a unique serial number assigned to the e-scooter, hence it is not replaceable if you lose it.
We also strongly recommend you to register your warranty online. For MOBOT customers, you can register your warranty at mobot.sg/warranty.
