The ultimate Clementi guide for cyclists

Over the years, Singapore has been expanding the park connector network (PCN). Cyclists can now travel long distances across Singapore in a safe and conducive manner. But with long-distance riding comes hunger and thirst.

In this new blog series, we’ll be exploring the best food and PCNs across Singapore. Click on the link to check out our ultimate guide for cyclists for Ubi, Woodlands, Bukit Batok, and City Hall.

But first, Clementi.

Clementi 1 - The ultimate Clementi guide for cyclists

Clementi is a well-balanced mix of malls, housing, schools and hawkers.

The area itself has both a bus interchange and MRT station. Adding on to that, there are also several cycling paths/park connectors nearby!

Cycling Paths

Spanning across 7.1km, we have Ulu Pandan PC. It starts at Commonwealth Ave West, goes through Sungei Ulu Pandan Canal and ends at Pan Island Expressway.

This PCN would be a paradise for nature lovers. There have been sightings of magnificent animals like Purple Neck Heron and Red-Capped Kingfisher. During the flowering season (typically March and April, and again in August and September.), cyclists can also expect beautiful flowers all around.

Another PC around the area would be West Coast Park Connector. At 3.1km, this PC is almost half the length of Ulu Pandan PC. But with its relatively smooth terrains, it is suitable for beginner cyclists or cyclists who are looking for a casual ride.

There are also two parks nearby- West Coast Park and Clementi Woods Park. Both parks have luscious greeneries all around and activities for all ages. Away from the bustling city, these places would be perfect for a quiet weekend.

Food Near The Area

Clementi has an amazing range of hawkers, cafes and restaurants.

The most popular hawker would definitely be 448 Market & Food Centre.

This market has its fair share of amazing and popular stores. You might always expect to see a queue outside Chai Ho Satay. But the succulent and juicy satay is definitely worth the wait. If you’re looking for something for the early morning, Soon Lee Porridge would be a great choice. The store opens at 6 am every day except Sunday. This hearty porridge will fill you up after a long ride. These are just 2 of the dozens of stalls available in this market.

There are also options for Halal food but if you would like more options, you can also head over to Kedai Kopi. Every store in this hawker is either Halal-certified or Muslim-owned. Their Nasi Padang is known to be delicious and is a popular choice among many. If not, choose from 8 other stores like BBQ Seafood or Western food!

If you’re looking for someplace quieter and more ‘atas’, there are 3 instagrammable cafes right around the corner. Glass Roasters and Burnt Cones are both new kids on the block.

Glass Roasters describes itself as ‘your friendly neighbourhood roaster’. With the minimalist and cosy interior, this cafe is a great place to chill with your khakis and talk about your ride. While Glass Roasters do offer food, their focus is definitely more on their amazing coffee.

If you prefer riding at night, then Burnt Cones is your go-to place. This gelato and sorbet cafe closes at 12am every day. They have a range of flavours, like your classic chocolate and also premium options like strawberry basil.

These gelato/sorbet pairs great with their crispy, golden-brown waffles and will cool you down even more after your night ride.
